Install the User Agent Switcher for Firefox

Click Tools
Click User Agent Switcher
Click Options -> Options
Click User Agents
Click Add
in Description: Nintendi Wii
in User Agent: Opera/9.10 (Nintendo Wii; U; ; 1621; en)

Click OK twice and you are done.

Now whenever you want Firefox to appear as the Wii web browser …
Click on Tools
Select User Agent Switcher
and Select wii

Now reload this page and see if you notice a difference.

You can also visit http://todayintech.com and try it on your Wii too.

I noticed that some sites that claim to have Wii-specific webpages like gamespot.com use additional javascript to detect which browser you are using and don’t seem to rely on the User-Agent variable by itself. I just happen to be using another Firefox plug-in called ‘No Script’ and noticed that when I allowed the site www.gamespot.com the pages were no longer formatted for the Wii.

BTW, If you are running a WordPress blog like I am, you can add the WordPress Ultimate Gamer’s Pack that automatically renders an optimized version of your posts and pages when visitors come to your blog on a Nintendo Wii, Nintendo DS-Lite, or Sony PSP.
